The Alfie 10-piece pet home grooming kit comes in at just under $40 and includes a 7-inch curved sheer, six-inch stainless steel cutting sheer, 6-inch 26-tooth thinning sheer, 3.5-inch round-tip trimming scissor, razor grooming trimmer, comb lubricant, hair clips, cleaning cloth, and travel case.
Though not strictly professional grade, one could definitely groom their dog regularly with this kit – and could certainly use it for home trimmings in between trips to the groomer.
I asked my daughter Danielle, a professional hair stylist at Seattle’s top-rated salon to examine the quality of the shears. At her level, quality shears cost between $500–$1000 each. Though concerned about their lack of initial sharpness and their ability to hold a sharp edge, she found that they were relatively well constructed for the price, and appropriately balanced.
So-called professional grade shears, as might be sold by Chris Christensen can run from $90 upwards of $210 each and I would venture to say that there would be no mistaking them with the Alfie shears.
Still, the Alfie grooming kit is an exceptional value and will give you the opportunity to do regular maintenance, and decide whether you’re ready to invest further.
