If you wonder why some “Havanese breeders” only charge $600 for their pups, this is why.
This backyard breeder says they have a purebred Havanese female and they are search for a male to breed with. They’d like it to be a purebred intact male Havanese or Yorkie and they’d like you to drop it off for a couple of days. They don’t require that the stud be AKC registered or health tested. And there’s no documentation that the female is health tested. The future dam looks to be just 12-14 months old and may be being bred on her first cycle.
So, someone will answer an ad for “Purebred Havanese” and will think they’re getting a steal at $600-800. They may be buying a happy little mutt, or they may be bringing home 12-15 years of disappointment and heartache.
I have no malice towards this person, whoever it is, but they do a great disservice to the Havanese breed, to their little female, and most of all to the buying public. This is not responsible breeding.
